The D550 is similar to the D500 chromatic hammered dulcimer, pictured, but has an extended bass range.
This model is the same size, and has the same tone, as the D500, but it has an extended bass range. Its full range is three and one-half octaves, G2 through E6, in a 16/15 configuration with the bottom half-octave on the left side of the instrument. The chromatic range is C3 to E6.
