CLARENCE WHITE - “FLATPICK” represents the second release of Acoustic / Bluegrass guitar instrumentals by the Legendary guitarist CLARENCE WHITE. This album is a follow-up release to the highly acclaimed, first album “33 ACOUSTIC GUITAR INSTRUMENTALS (RHY 1019) is culled from the personal master tape library of the late Clarence White recorded from 1964-1967 and made available by exclusive arrangement with his Estate.

Featuring once again, Clarence’s trailblazing lead flatpick guitar from more newly discovered solo Acoustic / Bluegrass flatpicking guitar recordings made prior to his years as the lead guitarist with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group, THE BYRDS.

This collection of newly discovered songs NEVER-BEFORE AVAILABLE on any format performances by CLARENCE WHITE includes such standards as; “San Antonio Rose,” “Silver Bells,” “Columbus Stockade Blues,” “Reno Ride,” “Texas Gales / Blackberry Rag,” “Devil’s Dream,” “Ragtime Annie,” “Salt Creek,” “Big Sandy River” and “Wabash Blues”.

CLARENCE WHITE, who was tragically killed by a drunk driver in July 1973, was a member of the seminal Bluegrass Group, THE KENTUCKY COLONELS when these recordings were made and finely represented on albums currently available such as: “LIVE IN L.A.” (RHY-1017); “LIVIN’ IN THE PAST – Legendary Live Recordings” (RHY-1020) and “APPALACHIAN SWING” (SPR-717).

Produced by Sierra Records’ founder, John Delgatto and Clarence White’s daughter, Michelle White, served as the Executive Producer. CLARENCE WHITE has been inducted into the Fender Guitar Company’s “Hall of Legends”, which is in association with Hal Leonard Music as a part of their Fender Player’s Club website. White is among the first twenty-one legendary guitarists to be installed along with Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Holly, Muddy Waters, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dick Dale.

The CLARENCE WHITE Commemorative Edition Model D-18CW Acoustic Guitar was issued by the C.F. MARTIN Guitar Company. A second C.F. MARTIN Guitar Company commemorative model guitar based on Clarence’s D-28 has also been issued.
