LIMITED EDITION MANDOLINS from Gibson

All Gibson mandolins are hand made in the USA. Most of the traditional procedures used for the original 1920's Loar mandolins are still being used today. It has been said that the craftsmen could trade places in time, and it would take less than a day for them to feel comfortably at work in the factory. Even many of the original tools are still in use. Many of the ideas are derived from the techniques used to build the Stradivarius violins.

From the lowest to the highest priced models, the differences between Gibson mandolins are essentially cosmetic. The "A" is the same body as the "F" model, but without the scroll.

Gibson Victorian F-5 Mandolin

The Gibson Victorian mandolin has each of the time-proven features that the most discerning mandolin players demand of their instruments. This combines the beloved details of both the F4 and F5 mandolins from the turn of the last century.

The Victorian mandolin is constructed of figured maple back, sides and neck, and a red spruce top with f-holes, using hot hide glue. As a special touch, all of these 15 are made with a one-piece figured maple back, stunningly accentuated in an early teens Victorian Era Red Sunburst varnish finish. The peghead features a Gibson "double flower pot" inlay.
