Gibson "F-5 G Custom" Mandolin
This beautiful F5 G mandolin was built in the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, TN and is one a of new "Custom" series in 2011. With satin gold hardware and a custom "fernburst" finish, the specifications are like the higher priced Fern model, but with the F5G peghead inlay of mother of pearl, and the F5G binding on the top, and the absence of a pickguard (which is even preferrable to many players.) It is not only an exquisite and special custom instrument in appearance, but the sound and playability are where this instrument really shines. The chops really bark with a deep echo, and the tone is resonant, rich and open up and down the fingerboard with a beautiful ring up the neck. This mandolin can be set up for very low string height without loss of tone, for ease of playability.
Gibson Victorian F-5 Mandolin Limited to only 1 - Built in 2010 The Gibson Victorian mandolin has each of the time-proven features that the most discerning mandolin players demand of their instruments. This combines the beloved details of both the F4 and F5 mandolins from the turn of the last century. The Victorian mandolin is constructed of figured maple back, sides and neck, and a red spruce top with f-holes, using hot hide glue. As a special touch, all of these 15 are made with a one-piece figured maple back, stunningly accentuated in an early teens Victorian Era Red Sunburst varnish finish. The peghead features a Gibson "double flower pot" inlay.
