By the way, let Janet know how pleased we are with the RB 250 we ordered. We were really nervous about ordering an instrument without playing it first. He gets compliments on the tone everywhere he goes. We bought if for our 15 year old son. He plays it so much, that the frets are already showing wear!!

My Gibson RB250 arrived in perfect condition on Thursday. It was well worth the extra $$ for express delivery. I am absolutely thrilled with it. Certainly I would have been disappointed with anything else now that I have held and played my own Mastertone, which is what I wanted from the start. I was actually quite surprised how good it looks - it's very tasteful and a joy to hold. There are no set up issues - did it require much work? It plays in tune all the way up the neck nicely; action not too low but comfortable and no buzzes. Please let me know what I might need to look out for as I play it in? I can certainly see what you meant by the better bass response of the Gibson and I like that aspect of the sound. The fullness of the sound is such a departure from my Korean model that I have been playing a lot of chords on it for sheer fun. I know and can tell that it will need time to bring out the very best in it but I'm very happy and have already been inspired to play Cumberland Gap and Foggy Mountain Breakdown for the first times up to Scruggs tempo, albeit briefly!

...My RB250 seems to be getting better as the time goes by. I don't know
if a banjo has to "settle in" or get "broken in", but it is just not the
same sounding instrument I got back in March. It has a very ringing,
bell like sound..a LOT of authority. Crisp and clean, and when I show
the set up job you and Jim did on it down there the other musicians are
amazed. They all think if you lower the action the volume goes down.
This one shouts differently.
