DIFFERENCES BETWEEN OLD-STYLE and 2-WAY TRUSS RODS
Click to see Truss Rod Covers
The truss rod or tension rod varies in different banjos:
Newer banjos
have 2 way adjustable truss rods. These "tighten" in both directions. One way
causes a bow in the neck and raises the strings in relation to the fingerboard.
The other way will cause the neck to move the other direction pulling the
strings closer to the finger board.
The older truss rods only took the bow out
of a neck. Tightening the nut on the truss rod straightened out the neck and
pulled the strings closer to the fingerboard. When you loosen this type of
truss rod the nut will actually come off the truss rod.
The two way adjustable
nut does not come off.
233-134 Deluxe 2-way truss rod for 5-string banjo neck. (Recommended):
$18.95
233-133 Old Style truss rod for 5-string: $13.95
