Livewire WIRED! CD Featuring Scott Vestal
This is a band with impressive credentials. Banjoist Scott Vestal spent the mid-eighties as a member of Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. Guitarist and vocalist Robert Hale has worked with the Reno Brothers and for a while was lead vocalist for J.D. Crowe's New South. Bassist Ernie Sykes has been done stints with Don Reno and the Bluegrass Cardinals. Their debut, recorded in Nashville with guest fiddler Blaine Sprouse, mixes country, bluegrass, and a little jazz. Tunes include Merle Haggard's "The Longer You Wait," Leon Jackson's "Love Please Come Home," "Living Like a Fool" (which they learned from Jimmy Martin), 12 songs in all.
