Some Customer Comments
Hello Janet (Teacher!),
I am using your book and video to get started here, and yes, I love the
banjo already, but we either have to have another one to make soon, or work
at modifications, since nothing can stay the same once I know the make-up
and start wondering about experiments. When I watch you on your video it
almost brings me to put it permanently in the box. We are kind of a dull
wit here and at my age (63) it doubtless is a fact that the fingers will
never be as quick as some we are watching. Thank you for your time in
making the videos, your calm approach, and especially letting us know where
(the way I see it) the upper border is!! Even our three weeks experience
has made me listen better to what I am hearing.
Thanks again, (we'll be ordering your scale book soon!),
Arie
I especially enjoyed your classes at Banjo Camp North and now your up
the neck DVD. Thank you for being there . Glenn B
This is a very good teaching book, and Janet is excellent in her instructions.

Janet, Paul Savage in Texas here. Just recorded my third CD with the new
Band. Hear the title cut with your student playing banjo at
www.morningtrain.org. I made up the brake
down at the first and last of the song. ;-) The song is on the song list
page.
Dear Janet: Your beginners 5 string banjo video and book arrived safely to my office here
in Scotland. Already, I have found the video and book most helpful and have taken on a new
enthusiasm for practice. Although it is early days, the exercises and links
to the chords have finally clicked! Very many thanks. Colin S

ABOUT AN HOUR A DAY AND LISTEN TO GOOD BANJO PICKIN EVERY CHANCE I
GET..AND I HAVE GOTTEN TO BE FAIRLY GOOD..HOWEVER,.... IF I HAD ONLY
KNOWN,..YOUR BOOK AND CD ARE THE "ONLY" !!! BOOK A LEARNER REALLY
NEEDS ...YOUR METHOD MAKES IT UNDERSTANDABLE...WONDERFUL !!!

THIS TOGETHER..ONE LESSON JUST FALLS IN PLACE WITH THE NEXT AND IT MAKES
THE JOURNEY EXCITING.
IF I EVER RUN INTO ANYONE WHO IS JUST STARTING OFF IN THE JOURNEY OF
PLAYING THE 5-STRING..I WILL TRY AND SAVE THEM A LOT OF "SEARCHING" AND

BOOK/CD METHOD.
THANKS AGAIN, AL MANN, RALEIGH, NC
Hi Janet! I just thought I'd send you a note to thank you for the great tapes and music lessons I bought.
I have been trying to learn bluegrass banjo for years and your lessons are the greatest I have ever got. You got me finally started. (not bad for a 66 year old man) which shows that if you pursue, someone like you can make it happen. Thanks again and I will always be indebted to you. Keep up the good work, and most of all keep pickin'. John R, British Columbia Canada
Hello Janet!
I've just about completed your excellent instructional book and tape "You
Can Teach Yourself Banjo". You have no idea what a savior you've been as
there are not many resources for banjo instruction where I'm living.
Complements to your teaching style and easy to follow tab.
Yours truly.

As I mentioned on the phone, my eleven-year-old son, Andrew, is a
beginning player and he has nothing but praise for your book, You Can
Teach Yourself Banjo. It really is well done, understandable, and
helpful. When we were on vacation in North Carolina, he was practicing
four or five hours a day. I had to keep reminding him to get outside
and enjoy the mountains! As well, I'm enjoying your scale book and
look forward to receiving the others I've ordered. Thanks for all your
work that goes beyond just operating a business. You're performing a
real service.
Sincerely,
Wayne B
To pull out a music book that I have cherished for a long time and my
banjo teacher takes a look at some of the songs I had a question or
two about and plays the arrangement and likes the arrangement and asks
who's book was it and hear the banjo teacher say, I like her style
very much. Bill B.
Thanks Janet Davis for the Beginner Banjo book, which I get a lot of
mileage out of and which banjo teachers in general like and
appreciate. Bill.
I just want to let you know how much your books and articles in Banjo
Newsletter have helped me. I told myself for years that I could not play
5-string because I was left handed. Then about 4 years ago, I walked
into a music store and bought your book, "You Can
Teach Yourself Banjo."
I have been at it for 4 years now [right handed] and love it. B.N.
Just received your video and booklet for beginners. I'm really impressed
with your teaching methods, not to mention your playing. I took lessons
many years ago and had given it up for many years. Just thought I would
never get it. Although my teacher was an accomplished player, several
instruments, I'm seeing now that she wasn't a great teacher. Hey, most
athletes don't make great coaches. ha
Anyway, I've quickly learned thing from you that have given me a better
insight to my playing and what I should be doing. It will still take lots
of practice, but at least I now have a path and plan. Thanks! When I make
my first tape I will send you a copy. ha ha
